Bahodir Karimov

Karimov Bahodir Nurmetovich was born on February 7, 1966, in the village of Toza Yormish, Dashoguz province, Republic of Turkmenistan. He lectured on the history of 20th-century Uzbek literature and the history of Uzbek literary science and criticism at the Department of Uzbek Literature. He graduated from secondary school No. 30 in Toza Yormish village in 1983. He served in the military from 1984 to 1986. Between 1986 and 1991, he studied at the Faculty of Uzbek Philology of the current National University of Uzbekistan (UzMU). From 1991 to 1994, he was a postgraduate student at that university, and from 1996 to 1999, he was a doctoral candidate at the same institution.

Biography

In 1995, he defended his candidate dissertation on «The role of Vadud Mahmud in the literary criticism of the 20s,» and in 2002, he defended his doctoral dissertation on «The problem of interpretation in 20th-century Uzbek literary science» (using Qodiriy studies as an example).

Between 1994 and 1996, he lectured on the history of 20th-century Uzbek literature and the history of Uzbek literary science and criticism at the current Department of Uzbek Literature of the Faculty of Uzbek Philology; he also served as the dean's deputy for scientific affairs, and later as the dean's deputy for academic affairs.

Since November 1999, he has served as the Head of the «World Literature and Theory» Department at the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek, and from January 2003 to January 2006, he served as the Dean of the Faculty of Uzbek Philology.

At the same time, since 2001, B. Karimov has been working as the deputy head of the Higher Literature Course organized by the Writers' Union at UzMU.

His books titled «Jadid munaqqidi Vadud Mahmud» (2000), «Qodiriy qadri» (2003), «Bunda bir hikmat bor» (2003), «Yangilanish sog'inchi» (2004), «Cho'lpon va tanqid» (2004), and «Abdulla Qodiriy: tanqid, tahlil, talqin» (2006) have been published. More than 100 scientific articles have been published in central national publications. He is married and has three children.
